Coming up is the Thyroid Cancer Walk and Run in Toronto, Sept 16, 2017.
Come join us at the Running Room!
Register and take an important step for raising awareness and run for a great cause. Tell your friends and family. You can choose 5K (run/walk) or 10K run.
All registered runners will receive a free t-shirt.
Event is located at Etienne Brule park in Toronto (south of Old Mill Road) and a 5-minute walk from Old Mill subway station. Pedestrians and cyclists can also travel through the park on the Tommy Thompson Trail, using entrances at Pasadena Gardens and Lundy Avenue.
Your support will enable TCC to provide those that have been affected by thyroid cancer accurate information, support & empowerment as well as peer support and patient education meetings. TCC also participates in research and advocacy work for patients to gain access to much needed therapies both existing and emerging within Canada.
So is every other month. Thyroid cancer can strike anytime of the year, and it does not discriminate.
Thyroid Cancer Canada is here to help patients and their families cope when the unfortunate happens. Since our inception in May 2000, we've happy to report that there are over 20,000 thyroid cancer survivors in Canada. Your support will help increase that survival rate.
Congratulations to the organizers and the Town of Millet for putting together an amazing festival in memory of Mike Gauthier and to raise awareness and funds for Thyroid Cancer Canada (TCC).
TCC is grateful to have been invited to this event to meet the dedicated organizers, generous attendees and the talented artists. Thank you to the Town of Millet for supporting this event!
Through this event, over $2200 was raised to support Thyroid Cancer Canada. TCC will use these funds to inform, empower and support those who have been affected by thyroid cancer.
We look forward to working with the organizing team to make this event bigger and better in 2017!
Thank you again for making 2016's Walk/Run event an exciting day! We had over 100 participants and we appreciate everyone's engagement and participation to make this event happen.
We look forward to continuing our dialogue with the Thyroid Cancer community and making this event even bigger and better in 2017.
What will Thyroid Cancer Canada do with the funds that are raised at our Events?
Deliver information and support to our members including the more than 6500 Canadians who are diagnosed with thyroid cancer each year
Empower patients to be an active participant in their care and to live well during and after treatment, by providing information about new treatments and guidelines
Advocate for more research funding, and for better access to treatment
Update our online and printed publications to reflect the most recent advances in thyroid cancer management
Expand our reach to better serve patients and their families across Canada
The Fluttering Fighters Gala, August 21, 2015, organized by Amanda Da Silva and Leanne Goncalco, was an amazing night of great food and dancing! As someone who was treated for thyroid cancer, Amanda is passionate about raising awareness and giving back. She said "It was time for people to get the facts on thyroid cancer and disease. It's not a "good cancer". It's a growing issue that needs to be addressed and taken seriously. It didn't matter how many obstacles we were faced with, nothing was going to get in the way of executing our gala."
This year, the tradition continues with several fundraising initiatives put together in support of Thyroid Cancer Canada. Amanda said "when Fluttering Fighters host a fundraising event or puts a project together to raise money, the funds raised in small sales go towards creating a larger event such as a gala. 100% of the proceeds go to Thyroid Cancer Canada."
"We may not have a Gala this year, but I may be hosting a dinner or garden party - there will be an event- just working on the logistics."
Three projects on the go right now. A mobile Easter Bake Sale, 3 new products of jewellery (butterfly bracelets and necklace) and thank you cards. All of these proceeds are in support of TCC.
Order a bracelet from Fluttering Fighters! Just one of many ways to get involved with their initiatives.
